Filippinsk beskyttelse

To unge kvindelige studerende, Sherlyn Cadapan og Karen Empeño, aktive i studenter politik, forsvinder.

MANILA, Philippines – Anti-communist forces have been deployed in the periphery of the Bulacan Provincial Jail to secure detained retired Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan from New People’s Army (NPA) assassins.

Guardians Forces Brotherhood International Inc. (GFBI) spokesman Oliver Lozano told The STAR their members who are active, retired and reserve police and military personnel will help police in monitoring the jail’s vicinity.

“Our members are already in the area on round-the-clock watch,” he said.

Lozano said some retired police and military officials in GFBI are veteran anti-communist fighters.

“The communists are determined to kill Palparan to undermine the legal and democratic processes and to weaken the anti-insurgency campaign of the government,” he said.

Lozano said the general sentiment in GFBI is to ferret out the truth behind the alleged abduction of two students and let the wheels of justice turn.

“As a father whose son was also abducted and killed, I share the grief of the parents of the victims, but I also share their hope that their daughters are still alive,” he said.

The attempt to kill Palparan amounts to obstruction of justice and suppression of truth on what really happened to the missing students, he added.

Lozano said the GFBI will also help in getting information and relay this to the missing students’ parents and the authorities in the hope that they could still be alive.

On the case of his son Emerson, he never believed that he was killed until he saw the charred remains and the dental records matched, he added.

“Does Palparan want to suffer the same fate as Gaddafi? He is surely courting it with his continued defiance of the law,” Lim said.

“Face the music or be hunted down like a vermin, ” Lim told Palparan.

Palparan who went into hiding after a court ordered his arrest for his alleged involvement in the abduction of University of the Philippines students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño in 2006.

“History is not kind to people who were responsible for the death of many innocent lives. I hope Palparan has read enough history books to know the common fate suffered by dictators and butchers. I hope he surrenders soon or face the people’s wrath,” Lim said.

Lim was an Army captain who was one of the ring leaders of the bloody 1989 coup against the government of President Corazon Aquino, the mother of President Aquino. He was imprisoned for two years and released through an amnesty during the Ramos administration. He was dismissed as head of the elite First Scout Rangers regiment in 2006 and was jailed for four years for leading a military uprising against the Arroyo government. He was released on bail in 2010 and made an unsuccessful run for the Senate in the line-up of Mr. Aquino.
